The Science behind Phonemic IntelligenceSM (PI)

Phonemic Intelligence uses sound and principles of hemispheric synchronization to activate key parts of the brain involved in learning.

PI activates key parts of the brain, particularly the anterior cingulate.

Benefits of activating the anterior cingulate:

  • Enhances academic performance
  • Improves ability to recognize mistakes
  • Inhibits unwanted behaviours and actions
  • Allows the choice of a better course of action
  • Promotes good teamwork and sportsmanship
  • Improves hand-eye coordination

In order to have a successful adult life, socially and economically, it is very important for children to master the above traits.

PI incorporates cross-lateral stimulation of the brain to synchronize the two hemisphere.

  • “Crossing the Corpus Callosum”
*Hand gestures and mental focus designed to cross-laterally stimulate the brain
*Sounds placed cross-laterally into different parts of the brain
  • The result is a focused, whole-brain state known as hemispheric synchronization, where the left and right hemispheres work together in a state of coherence
  • Increases mental fitness and enhances cognitive functioning in general

ACTIVE, a large multi-center study led by a team at Johns Hopkins, demonstrated that exercises involving crossing the brain hemispheres for 2 months resulted in continued benefits for 10 years.

PI uses key sounds that have in-built principles of intelligence.

Sound therapy has been extensively used in a wide range of both clinical and professional settings and modalities to positively impact our physical, mental and social well-being.

Research study presented at International Society for Neurofeedback & Research in San Diego (2014) “Examining the cognitive benefits of a Phonemic Intelligence program in older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment” Rebecca Prostko, MD (PI),Bernadette Lange PhD, RN-AHN-BC, Pillai, B, PhD.

Data obtained at Brain Science International in San Francisco (2012) showed the efficiency of the Phonemic Intelligence SM core technique in producing a signature sound wave within a minute of practicing PI, along with the activation of the anterior cingulate. The anterior cingulate is involved with emotional regulation, learning, and memory.
